We are part of the Black Family Stem Cell Institute and the Department of Developmental & Regenerative Biology and Department of Dermatology at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Our lab is interested in the formation and function of stem cell niches, which we study in genetic mouse models of hair follicle development. Specifically we focus on how Dermal Papilla (DP) cells act as niche cells for stem cells during hair follicle morphogenesis and regeneration, and on how their specialized cell fate is acquired during development. Insights from these studies have the potential for developing hair regenerative therapies. |
